چکیده

In this paper we report on the design and analysis of a multilevel method for the solution of the OrnsteinZernike Equations and related systems of integro-algebraic equations. Our approach is based on an extension of the Atkinson-Brakhage method, with Newton-GMRES used as the coarse mesh solver. We report on several numerical experiments to illustrate the effectiveness of the method.

Multilevel wavelet solver for the Ornstein-Zernike equation

A multilevel wavelet algorithm is developed to solve integral equations for the pair correlations in simple liquids. The algorithm is based on the discrete wavelet transform of the radial correlation functions. The fundamental properties of wavelet bases are employed to improve the convergence and speed of the algorithm. The Coifman 2 basis set is used for the wavelet treatment. To solve the Or...

A multigrid solver for the integral equations of the theory of liquids

In this article we present a new multigrid algorithm to solve the Ornstein-Zernike type integral equations of the theory of liquids. This approach is based on ideas coming from the multigrid methods for numerical solutions of integral equations (see §16 in [13]). We describe this method in a general manner as a ’template’ for construction of efficient multilevel iterations for numerical solutio...

Critical behavior of a fluid in a disordered porous matrix: An Ornstein-Zernike approach.

Using a liquid-state approach based on Ornstein-Zernike equations, we study the behavior of a fluid inside a porous disordered matrix near the liquid-gas critical point. The results obtained within various standard approximation schemes such as lowest-order γ-ordering and the mean-spherical approximation suggest that the critical behavior is closely related to that of the random-field Ising mod...

Modifications of the Ornstein-Zernike Relation and the LMBW Equations in the Canonical Ensemble via Hilbert-Space Methods

Application of the density functional formalism to the canonical ensemble is of practical interest in cases where there is a marked difference between, say, the canonical and the grand canonical ensemble (cavities or pores). An important role is played by the necessary modification of the famous Ornstein-Zernike relation between pair correlation and direct correlation function, as the former is...

Rigorous nonperturbative Ornstein-Zernike theory for Ising ferromagnets

– We rigorously derive the Ornstein-Zernike asymptotics of the pair-correlation functions for finite-range Ising ferromagnets in any dimensions and at any temperature above critical. The celebrated heuristic argument by Ornstein and Zernike [1] implies that the asymptotic form of the truncated two-point density correlation function of simple fluids away from the critical region is given by G(~r...
